The Institute of Applied Pedagogy (IPA) trains teachers for Burundi's Basic and Post-Basic Schools. Its two levels of study, the Bachelor's and the Master's, combine mastery of a subject with the ability to teach it.
The Bachelor's lasts three years and totals 180 ECTS credits, with teaching organised in six departments: three in Languages (English, French, Kirundi-Swahili) and three in Sciences (Biology-Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics-Technology). The Master's programmes last two years for 120 ECTS credits, with eight specialisations: four in Languages and four in Sciences.
All applicants must meet the official admission conditions set by the University of Burundi.
The IPA Admission Process
The admission process at the Institute of Applied Pedagogy follows the procedure established by the University of Burundi. All applicants, whatever their specialisation, must meet the official conditions and submit an application file within the published deadlines.
The procedure has three main stages. First, applicants check that they meet the general admission conditions and those of their programme. Second, they submit a complete application file before the deadline set each year by the Directorate of Academic Services. Third, they take the entrance examination or admission selection if required, then wait for the official results.
The list of required documents and the calendar are published each year by the University of Burundi. For any questions, contact the IPA.
